Us

(This post is best enjoyed while listening to "Us" by Regina Spektor, but really, anything by her will do.  Enjoy...)

14 april 2012 - 14 april 2007 = five years

 2007

Devin I celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary in April, and looking back, it's been a pretty amazing five years for us!  In that time, we've lived in Colorado, California, and briefly in Minnesota, I graduated from Nursing School, Devin got into Business School, and we've traveled.  It's been awesome...really awesome.

This year, our anniversary weekend coincided with the Boston Marathon, and Devin's cousin Kelli just happened to be running said race.  We decide to go cheer her on, stopping for a few hours (30) in New York before heading up to Boston.

(As a side note - we happened to be in San Jose/San Francisco on our anniversary last year for Devin's interview with Stryker and then over in Boston the day of the marathon for his interview with BCG.)

Devin had never been to New York, and I hadn't been there since 2002, so we did a lot of walking and seeing the sights.  Remember, we were only there for 30 hours...

We stayed at the W in Midtown - great place!
We got into the city at 9:30 after our overnight flight and they let us check-in right away - so nice.

My girlfriend, Bethany, recommended Luke's for a lobster roll...

...and they were delicious!                   (Can you tell we'd only gotten a few plane hours of sleep?)

The Statue of Liberty from Battery Park... I swear that's her.

So I'm standing there, about to take my picture, when...
Nice work kid.

After walking around the better part of Saturday, we made our way back to the hotel, cleaned up, and had dinner at Wolfgang's Steakhouse.  The food was amazing and we had a blast!  After dinner we'd planned to meet Bethany for drinks and jazz, but all of us were feeling quiet exhausted, so Devin and I grabbed a quick drink and called it a night.  It was a fabulous day.

2012

On Sunday we took the subway to the East Village and had brunch with Bethany at a place with great live Bluegrass and delicious bloody marys.  I hadn't seen Bethany since September of 2008!  Needless to say, we had a lot of catching up to do.  After brunch Devin and I made one last important stop before grabbing a cab to Penn Station and catching the train to Boston.

Rockefeller Center

Dork.

We had about 15 minutes to run around and take pictures before we needed to get to the train station.
Given time, I would have waited days to catch a glimpse of Tina Fey.

Looking on New York from the train.

Thank you New York City!  We shall return...

And Devin, I love you the most.
